Eating healthy in winter kitchen classes

Like to eat lighter and still feel nourished during the cold months? Or need energy for shoveling snow and fighting off the flu? Join the community at the Eating Healthy in Winter Kitchen Classes. Experiment with new combinations of vegetables, grains, spices and teas. The class, hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County’s nutrition educator, Janie Greenwald, is held 10 a.m.-noon on various dates through April, with the next class on Asian Noodles, Saturday, Jan. 26, at Cornell Cooperative Extension, 232 Plaza Road, Kingston (Hannaford Plaza). Other upcoming classes include, Assorted Chocolate Truffles at special 6-8 p.m. time on Feb. 13; Risotto, Feb. 23; Cajun and Creole, March 2; Knife Skills, March 23; South Indian Home Cooking, special time, 6-9 p.m. April 10, and “Ramp” Up Your Spring on April 24. Sign up for more than one class or with more than one person and receive a discounted rate of $30 a person per class, otherwise the fee is $35 a person per class.
